চাহিবামাত্র বাহককে অর্থ পরিশোধ করার ক্ষমতাকে তারল্য(liquidity) বলে । গ্রাহককে চাহিবামাত্র অর্থ পরিশোধ করতে হয় বলে ব্যাংকে তারল্য সংরক্ষন করতে হয়। বিনিয়োগের জন্য কিংবা কোনো দ্রব্য ক্রয়ের জন্য বাজারের সক্রিয় হাতিয়ার হলো ক্যাশ বা ক্যাশ জাতীয় বস্তু যাকে এক কথায় তারল্য (liquuidity) বলে। অন্যদিকে Cash crunch হলো যখন কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠান অর্থের অভাবে পরিচালিত হতে সক্ষম না হয়।
